A show and tell website in a day, e-commerce site in 2 days

A website in a day!

If you need a basic site - an online brochure if you will, with a simple contact form and / or google maps entry this could be the way to go.

Sounds great - what's the catch?

Generally a website build involves the following steps:

  1. A couple of draft designs and rounds of changes
  2. Development of content structure and often importing of content from an existing site and or content provided
  3. Apply the approved design to the content in a CMS (content managment system)
  4. Addition of image carousels, complex forms, member logins, google maps entry etc
  5. Site review and rounds of changes
  6. On site training session for content authors and reviewers
  7. Purchasing domain names and hosting account setup
  8. Launch

And this process can take up to 4 weeks

For a design blitz the steps are (on site / our office):

  1. Establish a empty CMS account
  2. add content supplied by you in word doc or similar form
  3. apply your branding or pictures supplied by you
  4. create a contact or booking or quote form with you, google maps entry
  5. Purchasing domain names and hosting account setup
  6. Site review and 1 round of changes

All in one day. $750 incl GST (Hosting $297 per year incl GST)

To make this work you need to:

  • be prepared - particularly your content
  • have an established branding document and all your material in digital form
  • have a reasonably clear vision of what you want
  • make decisions relatively quickly, and have access to all your decision makers
  • have your ABN and basic company / org details handy for domain registration

  3. Apply the approved design to the site

  5. Addition of products, possibly including taking pictures of the products
  6. Configure shipping system
  7. Configure transaction system
  8. Add legal pages, terms conditions etc
  9. Site review and rounds of changes
  10. On site training session for content authors and reviewers
  11. Purchasing domain names and hosting account setup
  12. Launch

And this process can take up to 4 weeks

For a e store blitz the steps are (our office):

  1. Establish an account
  2. add content supplied by you in word doc or similar form
  3. apply your branding or pictures supplied by you
  4. add products (pictures, descriptions, prices, cubic weights)
  5. add your Paypal / Eway business account details
  6. configure your shipping using a 'off the shelf' preconfigured real time shipping system (Australia Post for example)
  7. Site review and 1 round of changes
  8. Purchasing domain names and launch

All in two days. $2,000 incl GST (Hosting $220 per month incl GST)

To make this work you need to:

  • be prepared - particularly your content / products
  • have an established branding document and all your material in digital form
  • have a very clear vision of what your 'customer experience' is
  • make decisions relatively quickly, and have access to all your decision makers
  • have your ABN and basic company / org details handy for domain registration
  • have or be prepared to create a Paypal or EWay account early in the process
  • know all the legal requirements for your market / product type
